Yanesen House
Residential
Renovation of a 1930s house
Location
Wimbledon
Yanesen House is designed as a contemplative interior that supports thinking, connecting to nature. Dark linear and block elements organise the space and give it legibility, while warm taupe tones soften this framework and add comfort. Orientation is guided through subtle material contrasts: a striped runner on the stairs, slatted joinery details in the furniture, string curtains, and linear patterns for the bathroom walls. In the living area, a warm sisal rug defines the reading zone. In the bathroom, a sand-like floor introduces a tactile, calming surface, resembling a shore. Two large plants act as key spatial elements, treated almost like furniture, bringing natural life into the interior.
