The Lantern

The Lantern is a small, carefully designed extension that does not run across the full width of the house. Instead, only part of the rear is extended, allowing the garden space to be shaped more deliberately. This approach creates more exposed edges, opening up different views and strengthening the connection with the outdoors. It also forms a sheltered patio, offering a protected space between the house and the garden. Large openings frame the garden and bring in natural light, while a frameless ridge rooflight draws daylight deep into the space from above, creating a soft, even light throughout the day. Natural materials complete the space, giving it a calm and grounded atmosphere.
