The Wandle

Residential
Extension and Renovation of a 1950s house

Location
Carshalton

The project creates a fluid, open-plan living environment, including a new kitchen extension. While offering a seamless connection between the kitchen, dining, living and snug areas, furniture gently defines each zone.

A biophilic palette of greens and warm wood tones brings a natural quality to the interior, strengthening the relationship between the home and the garden. A large-scale naturalistic mural spanning the inner wall introduces depth and atmosphere, where no external openings are provided.

Full-height frameless sliding doors open the interior entirely to the garden, while rooflights draw daylight deep into the plan. A concealed utility area is integrated behind the kitchen cabinetry, maintaining a clean and uninterrupted flow.
